Design of the statue

The committee has sought design proposals for the project from two area sculptors.  Sculptor David Seagraves, Elizabeth, Illinois submitted a proposal for the design of the "big-horned ram".  The committee accepted David's proposal and commissioned him to be the sculptor for the project.

The design is for a 1¼ life-size statue, measuring 75'' in length and 75'' in height. The cost of the design and full size clay sculpted production will be $14,000.00. The foundry work, casting and 'Bronze' pouring will be done by Jeff Adams's Inbronze Foundry, Mt. Morris, at an estimated cost of $12-14,000.00. Site preparation will be an additional cost.

The Mounder Statue Committee has made several presentations to the Mt. Morris Park and Recreation Board.  The board then approved a site at Mounder Park for the statue.  Mounder Park is on the grounds of the original Mount Morris Grade School and Original High School/Junior High Buildings, bracketed by Brayton Road and Lincoln Street where the Mt. Morris Village Hall now resides.
