Perhaps this was reason enough to give an electronic book "e-book" reader a try.   Pat purchased the new Amazon Kindle II which uses an electronic paper display, reads the proprietary Kindle format, and downloads content from Amazon via Sprint's wireless network. In 2010, Pat  decided to get an iPad.  She simply loves it!
