Intuitive navigation -
Having sorted out website architecture, the main menu should
always be intuitive. Avoid making confusing or obscure
interfaces for the sake of being clever.
Fresh Content -
Don't let your website feel like a ghost town. Even simple
things like the random selection of a key graphic on the front
page give the users the impression that your website is alive.
You may even want to add new content to your site.
Information Flow -
Decide what you really want to show your site visitors and use
information flow and a "call to action" to direct them to it.
Don't leave users guessing at what they should click on next.
Appropriate look and feel -
This goes without saying. A sloppy looking website reflects a
sloppy business. Avoid the use of such things as splash
screens - many users are rarely impressed by them.
Build it and they will come -
Not usually true. Promote your website on all your stationary and
marketing materials. You'll get far more appropriate
traffic by advertising in the right places.
Create an effective web presence for your company or organization
Maintain your new site so content stays fresh.
Add new features/enhancements as needed.
Design an entirely new site - - My
first objective is to gain considerable insight into your
business in order to determine the most effective way for your
new website to be successful. After we agree on the
overall website design, web presence goals and general content
for your Website, I will begin the design and page layout
process. I will ask you to provide content materials
including text, graphics, forms and charts. You will have
the opportunity to monitor my work throughout the process.
Once you have approved the website's final design and content,
it will be published for access to all.
Makeover of an existing site - -
Things
change fast and websites can soon require a makeover. I can take your site
and update it with a new look and revised content. You can
have a beautifully designed, vastly improved website created and
it could cost less than you paid for the original one!
Site makeovers usually
cost less than starting from scratch.
Learning how to do it yourself - -
For those who would
prefer to become self-sufficient in creating a new website or
updating an existing site, I can teach you what you need to
know. The extent of training will depend on the complexity of your site as well as your general experience
level.
